AkzoNobel Canada's Longueuil Distribution Center is certified LEED-NC Silver. The project garnered 33 points on the rating scale of the Canada Green Building Council.
The Montreal distribution center for Akzo Nobel (Sico) is a 202,000 sq. ft. facility with 29 shipping and receiving doors incorporating a 30,000 sq. ft. alkyde storage area with containment, and 4 hr. firewalls.
Employee facilities include staff locker rooms complete with showers and a large cafeteria with exterior terrace.
The project has received LEED Silver certification for new construction and features wall mounted solar preheating panels and rooftop heat-wheel ventilation units for heating and ventilation of the warehouse space. The NAD Klima’s flexible high-induction FDD diffusers provide air distribution.
Energy savings are in the order of 37%.
In 2012, the north america's paint activities of AKZO-Nobel have been sold to PPG industries.
